Texas Medical Center Joins Greater 288 Partnership

August 2, 2010 - Medical center commuters that utilize the Highway 288 corridor now have additional advocacy for transportation issues as the Greater 288 Partnership announced the recent addition of the Texas Medical Center as a new member of their association.

Serving as one of the largest employers of Harris and northern Brazoria Counties, the Texas Medical Center will offer a significant voice for the thousands of patients and employees who commute to the area each day as the partnership works on future development plans for the 288 corridor.

"Thousands of Texas Medical Center employees and patients live around the 288 corridor and in Brazoria County" said Robert F. Stott, Texas Medical Center Executive Vice President.  "Improved access to the Texas Medical Center combined with effective transportation and mobility programs for these citizens is important to their quality of life and the health of the entire community."

Greater 288 Partnership Co-founder and Chairman Kevin Cole enthusiastically welcomes the new partner.  "When Woody Owens and I first started talking about the formation of this important coalition, the Texas Medical Center was one of our key partner prospects since they represent such a large block of daily commuters on 288," reports Cole.  "Over and over again, we hear that having a voice in the planning process is key to yielding good results.  We are very encouraged that the Texas Medical Center sees the value of our efforts by joining us in proactive planning for the future of the 288 corridor."

The Greater 288 Partnership continues to add new members to their growing organization. Members enjoy regular quarterly luncheons, involvement in numerous committees, and periodic workshops and seminars. The Greater 288 Partnership will host Congressman Pete Olson at its next luncheon on August 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center.
